13th Annual Ducky Derby Delivers Many Winners
The 13th Annual Great Vallejo Ducky Derby once again drew hundreds to the waterfront on a bright and sunny July 4th afternoon.
The frolicking faux fowl returned to the Straits of Mare Island to the delight of a boisterous crowd of children and adults.
As the crush of yellow “quackers” jockeyed for position, anxious ticket holders cheered on the ducks, hoping that they held
the winning number of the strongest and swiftest.
The lucky prize winners were:
- Bill Bissett of Fairfield, who won the first prize, a 2009 Toyota Scion donated by CC & Amber Sabathia
- Jan Mitchell of Carmichael, who won the second prize, $2,500 Cash donated by the Individual Vallejo Chamber Board Members
- Daryl Boyanich of Vallejo, who won the third prize, Trainer for a Day for 4 donated by Six Flags Discovery Kingdom
- Stacy Potoczny of Vallejo, who won the fourth prize, a $1,500 Shopping Spree donated by Victory Stores of Vallejo
- Suzie Dike of Benicia, who won the fifth prize, a $1,500 Shopping Spree donated by Costco Vallejo
- Michael Seyler of Vallejo, who won the sixth prize, Unlimited Ultimate Car Washes for One Car for a Year donated by 7 Flags Car Wash, Vallejo
Everyone who purchased Ducky Derby tickets, sold Ducky Derby tickets, and/or helped organize the Great Vallejo Ducky Derby
event were winners as well. That is because the Vallejo Rotary Club and the Vallejo Chamber of Commerce raised over
$33,000 in their efforts to provide dictionaries for every third-grade student in Vallejo. And that means that over
1,800 children and their families are the most important winners of all!
