The Great Vallejo Ducky Derby

is an event produced by Vallejo Rotary and the Vallejo Chamber of Commerce. These two community-minded organizations have come together to produce a fund-raising event to pay for dictionaries for every third grader in Vallejo.


The tickets for the Ducky Derby are $5 each. The prizes are wholly or partially donated. The money generated by the sale of the Ducky Derby tickets provides money to purchase dictionaries which are handed out every year to every third-grader in Vallejo. This includes kids in public schools, private schools, charter schools and those being home schooled.


The event itself is staffed by volunteers. Members of the Vallejo Chamber of Commerce and Vallejo Rotary volunteer to organize the event, produce the tickets, sell the tickets, purchase the dictionaries and hand them out to the third-graders.


This year, due to issues exacerbated by our depressed economy, the actual duck race will be replaced by a straight forward drawing. The drawing will be held at the stage being used by the Vallejo Symphony at the festival in the park behind the library along Mare Island Way between Capitol Street and Georgia Street.


The drawing will be held at approximately 3:30pm. The exact time depends on the availability of the stage. Tickets will be sold all along the parade route and at the festival up until a few minutes before the drawing.
